La’ad Canada joins with those in Israel and the Jewish world today November 30th to remember the fate of more than 850,000 Jews who were forced out of Arab countries and Iran in years following the establishment of the modern State of Israel.

This memorial day commemorates the tragedy of those who were forced to flee from their countries and homes, many of which they had lived for millennia, solely because of their Jewish identity. Many families were deprived of their belongings and suffered from violence and persecution.

The  expulsion of entire Jewish communities from countries in the Middle East is an important part of modern Jewish history that not only affected the Jewish nation as a whole, but forever altered the demographic composition of the Middle East and North Africa. This is a story that has to be told and La’ad Canada is proud to join others in telling it.
